When the tool is enabled, it shows the current collision detection
mode along with the options that typically need to be defined
with the effect.
- Mode - Simulation mode, for enabling the collision detection. Setting this field to Full means
that the object both detects collisions and is also sensitive to the collisions. Cause means that
this object can affect other objects but its own kinetic energy will not change due to collisions. Affected
means that the object will detect collisions, but won't affect any other objects due to collisions.
See the Property Window / Sim tab for more information.
- Accuracy - Specifies the number of samples used to detect collisions.
The higher the value, the more accurately collisions are detected.
- Surface Friction.
- Rebound - Value of 1 corresponds to dissipation free
collision where the object maintains its kinetic energy in collisions.
- Elasticity - Objects ability to maintain its initial shape. If elasticity is zero, there is no force that restores the shape after a deformation.
- Rigidity - The lower the value, the more freely object matter can react to forces
and the less internal friction resisting the shape deformations exists. If the rigidity is zero,
object geometry points act independently in simulations (elasticity defines a string force that
maintains the shape).
- Inertia - Describes how the mass is distributed in object volume. If the mass is concentrated
in the middle of the object, the inertia is small and the object has a
tendency to spin easily in collisions.
To create a simulation where two spheres collide with each other:
1. Select a sphere and enable the 'Velocity' simulation tool. Enter
two points in the View window to define velocity vector for the sphere.
2. Create another sphere and multi select the two spheres.
Note that the spheres must be in the same hierarchy level.
3. Enable the Collision tool, set Mode option to 'Both' and
accept the tool.

| You can activate the Collision tool again to edit any collision detection
specific properties later. The options can also be set in the Property Window / Phys and Sim tabs.
